SSRI的五朵金花中，Paroxetine(Seroxat)會增加胎兒致命風險 (anencephaly, atrial septal defects, right ventricular outflow tract obstruction cardiac defects, gastroschisis, and omphalocele), 可導致重病的是Prozac (ventricular septal defects, right ventricular outflow tract obstruction cardiac defects, and craniosynostosis), Citalopram則也可能造成先天缺損(neural tube defects), 大家印象中最安全的Escitalopram和Sertralin的確目前並未知道與任何先天缺損有關。
